This is a sound that Akon would not normally be used to. However, it works for this tune.The instrumentals feature a rock sound with the electric guitars. The artist Akon features is Phillopine. His voice is also pretty unique, which makes this song so experimental. I think Akon is trying to be creative and out of the box to gain some more attention, but I think he is doing a pretty good job.
